The glacier tour and ice climbing was the most expensive excursion we did, but well worth every penny. The guides really look after you and they take safety really seriously. Walking on the glacier with crampons was amazing and the ice climbing just made it that bit more memorable.

Guiding Training and Qualifications

All of our Guides need to go through extensive training and first aid courses to be qualified to guide the trips within Arctic Adventures.

Training and Qualifications for White Water Rafting:
All our Trip leaders have a Wilderness First Responder certificate as well as most of our guides.  
The raft guides all have a certification published by The Icelandic Rafting Association with a standard approved by White Water International and issued by the Icelandic Maritime Authorities.
Our Guides are qualified Swift Water Rescue Technicians or White Water Rescue Technicians.  Certified by Rescue 3 International.
Every spring our qualified guides need to do a refresh course for their rafting and rescue technique.  Trainees are trained according to the Icelandic Rafting Association with a standard approved by White Water International and issued by the Icelandic Maritime Authorities.



Training and Qualifications for Sea Kayaking:
All our Trip leaders have a Wilderness First Responder certificate as well as most of our guides.

Training and Qualifications for Snorkeling:
All our Trip leaders have a Wilderness First Responder certificate as well as most of our guides.  
All our guides get a thorough course regarding safety in the water by a certified PADI Diving Instructor.  After the course the trainee becomes an Assistant Guide until he is assessed to become a Trip Leader.

Training and Qualifications for Caving:
All our Trip leaders have a Wilderness First Responder certificate as well as most of our guides.  To be qualified as a Caving guide,  the trainee is an Assistant Guide until he is assessed to become a Trip Leader.  Our guides get a field trip with a Geologist, visiting the caves we run our tours. 

Training and Qualifications for the Steel Wire Slide:
All our Trip leaders have a Wilderness First Responder certificate as well as most of our guides.  
Arctic Rescue manages putting the Slide up and is in charge of safety and regulations

Work opportunities with Arctic Adventures, Arctic Rafting, Glacier Guides & North Explorers:
Arctic Adventures takes in interns for marketing, sales and tour guides every year.
