South Shore Super Jeep Safari with Lava Caving

Combo Trip: Driver Guided Super Jeep Safari, Sightseeing the South Shore´s Most Treasured Natural Sights - Sólheimasandur Lava Beach, Seljalandsfoss & Skógafoss Waterfalls & Lava Caving.

Tour difficulty 2 out of 5 possible. Rated: Easy

Starting with a pick up from Reykjavík in on of our specially modified super trucks we will drive up to the Blue Mountains and gear up for a cave adventure. We will desend into the pitch black wonder world of Leiðarendi lava cave. There we will see how Iceland was created and how it continues to take shape before our very eyes. The Leiðarendi has many of stalagmites, stalagtites and other weird heat formations created by the magma at the time of the eruption. Continueing onwards we visit the Hellisheiði Mountain and follow the 1000 rivers mountain road. We will cross the river in beautiful surroundings many times before descending down to the grassy low lands on Iceland’s south coast.

Our next stop is the Seljalandsfoss Waterfall and we will walk behind the veil of water, catching the refreshing water spray on our face (remember to bring a waterproof jacket). Driving east from the waterfall we will enter “Volcano Alley” here we have the impressive Eyjafjöll Mountains crowned with the infamous Eyjafjallajökull volcano on our left and the volcanic Vestmannaeyjar Islands on our right and the powerful Katla Volcano in Mýrdalsjökull infront of us. This is one of the most amazing roads in Iceland, imagine seeing three of Iceland’s volcanoes through the window of your jeep!

At the foot of Mýrdalsjökull lies the Sólheimajökull glacier and we will drive as close as we can to the ancient ice floe before following the glacier river that comes from it to the black sand beach. There we will power our way through the sand with the relentless surf of the North Atlantic Ocean on our left side and the Mýrdalsjökull & Eyjafjallajökull glaciers on our right side. We will enter the road again at the famous Skógar waterfall and walk up to the 60-meter high monster to view it up close. After all these adventures we will cruise back to Reykjavík and arrive around 18:00 in the evening.

*Where, when and how much we will be able to go off-road depends entirely on weather and conditions, in other words it depends on the Iceland nature!
