Glacier Trips From Skaftafell

Skaftafell is our base of operations for our glacier and mountain guiding operation in the realm of Iceland´s biggest glacier, the Vatnajökull. The Vatnajökull is not only Icelands biggest glacier, it is the biggest in Europe and infact the biggest outside the polar regions.

This is surely an guaranteed stop as you drive along the South Coast and our selection of day trips will make any naturelover and hiker want to stay for more then one day!

The Glacier Wonders day trip is a glacier hike on the Virkisjökull glacier only 10 minutes from Skaftafell Service Center. This trip offers something no other glacier in Iceland can, only a 45 minute hike and you will be able stand with in 20 meters of an actual ice fall. An ice fall is where the ancient glacier crashes down the mountain..an absolutely breathtaking place, don´t miss it!
