Testimonials

From Colin & Ann Stockton

Hi Kevin,

... The excursions were well organised and very enjoyable. We did choose to miss the visit to the Blue Lagoon and took a trip instead over the recently erupted volcano.  The manager of Hotel Ranga tried to help us organise a helicopter flight for that day but it could not be arranged.  As an alternative he told us of a local character with a fixed wing plane.  When we agreed to go he made the arrangements for us.  I would say the plane was lacking in comfort but our pilot was “mad enough” to fly us on a roller coaster ride right down the lava flow tipping the plane left and right throughout the descent and then back up again.  The flight over and inside the rim of the still steaming volcano with its powerful smell of sulphur was brilliant. Our flight included going over the nearby glacier and lasted for about two-and-a-half hours.  Ann still describes it as the scariest thing she has ever done!  I could write pages on The Golden Circle Tour but I doubt I could do justice to the brilliance of the experience and the enthusiasm and pride of the people involved in taking us.  Hotel Centrum in Reykjavik was different in style to Hotel Ranga but none the less impressive and comfortable.
We thoroughly enjoyed the short break you arranged and our home made DVD will continue to enthral for years to come.

Best regards,

Colin and Ann Stockton
Jón

Golden Circle Super Jeep Safari with Snorkeling in Silfra

Combo Trip: Driver Guided Super Jeep Safari, Sightseeing the Golden Circle & Snorkeling in Silfra fissure in Þingvellir National Park. Day Tour Available Directly from Reykjavík City.

Trip difficulty 2 out of 5 possible. Rated: Easy

We take our course east from Reykjavík along the tabletop mountains of the Esja and down to Lake Thingvallavatn. Here we stop to visit the National Park Thingvellir where you will see one of only two tectonic rift valleys in the worlds, created as the continental plates of America and Europe slowly drift apart. Þingvellir is also the only UNESCO‘s cultural world-heritage site in Iceland and it was here that the Vikings held their parliament and passed out judgments. We will walk down through Almannagjá canyon and to the Silfra fissure in the heart of the park. Here you will get to experience the clearest waters in the world on our famous Into The Blue snorkeling trip. The underwater visibility of the lava field stretches into the distance, on good day more then 100 meters! You will also be snorkeling with America on one side and Europe on the other, this is with out a doubt one of the most unique and refreshing trips Iceland has to offer.

After our snorkeling adventure we will dine on a packed lunch before taking the mountain track behind the picturesque shield volcano Skjaldbreid and along our second biggest glacier, the Langjökull. After about a two hours drive on mountain trails and some river crossing we get back to normal roads again just above Gullfoss waterfall.

We will make a short stop and view the spectacular 32 meter high cascade before driving to the Geysir hot springs which are only 10 km down the road. At Geysir we will see a variety of geothermal pools and Strokkur, the erupting hot spring, surely one of the highlights of any visit to Iceland.

This trip offers an amazing ride through the landscapes and natural forces that have shaped and continue to shape Iceland. The ultimate super-jeep combo trip from Reykjavik!
