Testimonials

From Mark

Excellent service from the Arctic Adventure team whilst in Iceland. The staff kept us up to date with the trips we had booked and even called me on my mobile to advise pick up would be 30mins late due to a slight problem (most people would of just left us waiting for such a short time). If your going to Iceland and want to ensure your well looked after by a company that knows its stuff these are the guys to use. I found them randomly on the net before going (they were very helpful then via email), but having been a customer and into their offices I recommend them highly. I'll certainly use them again if I get back to Iceland.

Highland Explorer - Snowmobile Expedition in Iceland

3 days winter tour: Highland snowmobile and adventure tour in Iceland, overnight at a hut or chalet in the Icelandic highlands or countryside. Also includes glacier hiking and ice climbing on the Sólheimajökull on Iceland’s South Coast.

Trip difficulty: 4 out of 5 possible , rated: Demanding.

-Activities included:

The Highland Explorer is our ultimate snowmobile adventure, on it we will blaze a trail through the untouched snows of the Icelandic outback and in the spirit of true explorers we will go where ever conditions are best each time.

Our snowmobile guides have vast and intimate knowledge about the glaciers and central highland area and will custom make your two-day snowmobile tour the night before it starts, taking into account snow -, weather – and road conditions.

Starting from the snowline on the outskirts of the highlands our possible destinations include the scenic sites of Hveravellir , Kerlingafjöll, Landmannalaugar, Hólaskógur, Grímsfjall and many others.   No matter where we go and where the first night is spent, our highland adventure culminates in a great BBQ with flame grilled Icelandic lamb and all the trimmings. And if we are lucky… a relaxing bath in a natural warm pool and if you are even more lucky… you can lean back and enjoy the Northern Lights dancing in the starlit sky (January - April).

We will also visit the South Coast with its famous Eyjafjallajökull Volcano, black sand beaches and Sólheimajökull outlet glacier. On the latter we will walk up to and go for a crampon walk on the ancient ice and learn about the effects of global warming on the Icelandic glaciers.

For those who dare get the chance to try out some ice climbing safely attached to a top rope. This tour is our crown duel – a fantastic Icelandic winter adventure.
