Super Jeep Self Drive, Golden Circle Sightseeing & ATVs

Be the driver of a monster truck on this super jeep self drive adventure! You will drive the 4x4 super jeep off road and visit the Golden Circle, Iceland´s most famous sightseeing route including Þingvellir National Park, the Geysir Hot Springs and Gullfoss Waterfall.

This tour will take you off the beaten path to experience Iceland´s natural gems in the comfort of our 4x4 super jeep. Our first destination is beautiful and historic Þingvellir area where the worlds first parliament “Alþingi” was established in 930 AD. It is the only UNESCO‘s cultural world-heritage site in Iceland. Þingvellir is also famous for it´s beautiful nature and unique geology. You can eyewitness the location where the North American and European continental plates are drifting apart.

Next, we take the trail behind the picturesque shield volcano Skjaldbreid along our second biggest glacier, the Langjökull. After about two hours drive on tough trails and some river crossings we get back to normal roads again. Our next stop, Gullfoss, is Iceland´s best known waterfall, it cascades down 32 meters into the mighty glacial river Hvítá. After seeing Gullfoss up close we continue onwards for a short drive to the Geysir geothermal area. There we will eye witness the spouting hotspring in all its power.

Driving a super jeep is not the only thing you will be driving during this adventurous day. You will also drive a powerful 700 cc Yamaha bike on a 1 hour ATV tour! It is an amazing ride along the mountains and up to a mountain valley close by. Racing through the lava fields of the dormant volcanoes is a truly exciting adventure and it gives you an up close and personal feel for the Icelandic nature.

Guaranteed departures: Everyday 8:30-9:00.
Minimum: 2 persons.
Duration of trip: 10-11 hours.
Included: Pick-up from Reykjavík*, a self drive super jeep ride, a visit to Þingvellir National Park, Geysir and Gullfoss waterfall, 1 hour ATV tour and lunch.
Bring with you: Warm outdoor clothing, waterproof jacket and pants, headwear and gloves. Good hiking shoes are recommended (note: hiking shoes, waterproof jacket and pants can be rented if you let us know in advance).
Age limit: 10 years as a passenger on the ATV.
No knowledge of the sport is required!

PLEASE NOTE: Driving a modified 4x4 super jeep can be very demanding and dangerous, especially in icy and wet conditions. Therefore the guide has full authority to take over the driving should he evaluate it necessary. 

Off-road driving means driving dirt roads and mountain passes. Due to extreme winter conditions these roads are often hard to drive or even impassable. In such cases the guide has full authority to alter the itinerary.  

Drivers have to be over 25 years old and hold a valid drivers license. All our super jeeps are with manual transmission therefore you have to be comfortable with driving a stick shift.



* If you are staying at one of the many hotels and guesthouses in the city center then your pick up for your tour will be at 8:30 from the Arctic Adventures main office at Laugavegur 11. The shop is located in the heart of the old city center. Click here to see a map of our location.
