Testimonials

From Alison & Lauren

Hi Artic Adventures,

We just wanted to thank you for making our trip to Iceland so amazing. We went on 3 of your day tours (Blue Ice, Black and Blue, and the Grand Slam with rafting).

We really got to see every unique aspect we could have asked for. Being able to stand on one of the world's glaciers was picturesque. I think I took over 100 pictures of all the unique features. The snorkling in the fissures was truely a unique experience, especially putting on all that gear! Thanks to Alli for being so patient. The grand slam tour was perfect. We were able to see all the major sites and still have time for rafting!! John and Liisa were spectacular tour guides that day.

The guide's were knowledgeable (especially Alli) and enthusiastic. We will definitely recommend your company to any of our friends headed your way.

Thanks,
Alison Neubauer

Langjökull Crossing – Super Jeep Expedition in Iceland

Multi Trip: 2 Day Driver Guided Super Jeep Expedition Crossing the Langjökull Glacier, Overnight at the Highland Chalet at Hveravellir Hot Springs in the Icelandic Central Highlands. Golden Circle Sightseeing & a Choice Between Snorkeling or Lava Caving.

Trip difficulty 3 out of 5 possible. Rated: Challenging

Your tour begins with a pick up from your accommodation in Reykjavík and briefing about the adventures that lie ahead over the next two days. From Reykjavík we will drive west, through the Hvalfjarðargöng tunnel under the sea and to the Húsafell nature reserve along the Hvítá glacier river. There we will stop at the Hraunfossar and Barnafossar Waterfalls and the most powerfull hot spring in Iceland, the Deildartunguhver before we power onwards and onto the Langjökull Glacier, Iceland’s second biggest glacier measuring roughly 1.021 km2 it is also the second biggest in Europe. Located between the Eiríksjökll Glacier and Hofsjökull Glacier, surrounded by high mountains and volcanoes, the Langjökull reveals scenic views like no other. We will cross the glacier, driving on the snow and ice in the specially modified super jeep with a expert glacier guide at the wheel. Descending down to the Central Highlands at the Hveravellir Hot Springs and mountain chalet we will take a relaxing dip in the natural hot pots in the area and enjoy the amazing views and the clear mountain air. Your guide will then barbeque Icelandic lamb for dinner and we will sleep in the rustic chalets in Hveravellir.

The second day of adventure begins with a drive along the ancient trading route between south and north, the infamous Kjölur road. We make our first stop where we formally leave the highlands behind, there you will witness one of the most impressive waterfalls in Iceland, the Golden Waterfalls; Gullfoss. From there we drive a few minutes to the Geysir Hot Springs where the spouting Strokkur belches a 20 meter high column of super heated water in to the air every 4 minutes or so. After lunch you have a choice between two of our greatest adventure trips: lava caving or snorkeling in the Silfra ravine in Þingvellir.
