All,

Just a quick email to say thank you so much for your help in organising the trip to Iceland. It was, not to put to fine a point on it, SPECTACULAR. Everything that could have happened did – a mountain rescue, an amazing hotel, a meal of whale meat and puffin at Lækjarbrekka, cocktail fun at Orange and a light poaching at the Blue Lagoon. And to round it all off: an Icelandic psychic on the plane home who gave everyone “dream pebbles”. Seriously. The whole thing still feels faintly surreal and dream-like, to be honest.

But the best bit? The dive. Was just utterly, utterly incredible. Not that you can tell from these pics, but this is me but this is me at Þingvellir - 40m down in glacial water with 100m visibility:

It was one of the highlights of my life. Seriously. Genuinely awe-inspiringly beautiful. Hedinn was a superb dive master, and gave me all the help and encouragement I needed. And with the our great jeep story as well (thanks to our guide Ragi – a really great guy), I think it’s going to make a great piece.

So thank you so much for your help organising it – everything worked like clockwork, and we both had an amazing time. I’ll be in touch nearer the time when we start laying out the feature, but until then, thanks again..

U-Drive South Shore - Winter Super Jeep Day Tour

Combo Trip: Super Jeep Self Drive, South Shore Sightseeing & an Activity of Your Choice. Day Trip Available Directly from Reykjavík City.

Tour difficulty 2 out of 5 possible. Rated: Easy.
This amazing trip will not only show you the South Shores most treasured natural sights but also Iceland´s amazing black sand beaches and dunes. We will pick you up in a 4x4 Super-Jeep and show you how to best  drive this highly specialized mountain and glacier vehicle on and off the road…just imagine driving such a machine!

Our first stop cruising along Iceland´s South coast is at Seljalandsfoss waterfall. We will take a short walk behind the 65 meter high wall of water! Next we will stop at Skógafoss waterfall before driving down to and onto the beautiful black lava sand beaches, racing along the waters edge where the relentless North Atlantic waves crash onto Iceland´s coast.

*Where, when and how much we will be able to go off-road depends entirely on weather and snow conditions, in other words it depends on the Arctic winter!

Your activity will take place at some point during this adventurous day. This trip is available with a choice of 3 different activities, giving you a unique possibility to
custom-make your adventure. We also offer this tour without activity for the price of 37.990 ISK per person.

U-Drive South Shore with Glacier Hiking (Sunglacier Express)
Enjoy a glacier hike on the rugged Sólheimajökull glacier! Accompanied by an experienced glacier guide you will explore the crevasse riddled outlet glacier with its amazing ice formations, sink holes and jagged ridges. Age limit: 14 years or shoe size 35 EUR (for crampons).

U-Drive South Shore with ATV/Quadbike Tour (Mountain Ride)
On this one hour full throttle ATV tour we race along the mountains and up to a mountain valley close by. Racing through the lava fields is a truly exciting adventure. Age limit: 10 years as a passenger on the ATV. Please note: A valid driving license is required to drive the ATV.

U-Drive South Shore with Caving (Underworld)
Explore the hidden world under a lava field! On our way through Leiðarendi lava tube you will see the marvels that volcanic activity has created in the past. It is a unique experience where you will explore this dark and quirky world beneath ours. Age limit: 10 years.
