Surfing Daytours and Multiday Trips in Iceland

Do empty lineups, world-class waves and dramatic surroundings sound tempting? Discover why the surf media is calling Iceland the new Morocco (the place where everyone’s going because no one’s going there). And before you ask, no it’s not that cold! If you surf during the right season you’ll experience water temperatures similar to those in Ireland and Scotland.

Arctic Surfers was founded in 2009 by Erlendur Magnússon (a.k.a. Elli) and Ingólfur Már Olsen (a.k.a. Ingo). Before founding Arctic Surfers we worked for a number of years as guides for the largest adventure tour operator in Iceland, Arctic Adventures. With our years of experience as tour guides (river rafting, snorkeling and more), local knowledge and passion for the sport we are sure to promise you an unforgettable Arctic Surfing experience.

By traveling around the world, surfing, snowboarding and kayaking we came to realize how amazing our own country really is and how unique and special it is to surf in Iceland. We have come across a number of pro surfers, photographers and surf filmmakers who have come to Iceland with the sole purpose of experience it´s waves.

We have traveled around the globe searching for waves, but we always return to the points and reefs of Iceland which never let us down. We want to dispel the myth that Iceland is only for the hardcore pro surfer willing to put up with brain-freezes and frozen wetsuits. Using our local knowledge and experience we operate our trips in late spring and early fall when water temperatures are higher and the surf is consistent. Surfing in Iceland is all about local knowledge, the right timing and the right equipment.

To give the average surfer an enjoyable experience we supply wetsuits for all of our trips which have been tested for Icelandic conditions. We use local knowledge obtained from years of surfing and traveling around Icelandic to discover the best surf spots, the most amazing landscapes and the biggest adventures on every trip. A big part of every visit to Iceland is to experience it´s raw natural beauty. Through our partner Arctic Adventures, Iceland’s leading adventure company, we offer our customer´s the chance to explore a little of that raw beauty and the many activities Iceland has to offer when the surf is not pumping.

Our goal is to let you experience surfing in one of Europe’s last great wilderness areas in the safest manner possible and without missing out on the many other thing’s Iceland has to offer.

Customized Trips

For the die hard adventurous surfer who doesn’t mind camping out in the wild or spending a considerable amount of time in a car chasing swells, Arctic Surfers offers a all year round trip with the sole purpose of finding the best possible surf on the island. Situated in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean with just under 5.000 km of virgin coastline, Iceland is open to swells from all directions, it’s just a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

Our guides have spent the last 10 years exploring the island’s coastline and discovering many of the now known brakes. Armed with their knowledge and the latest forecasts we drive to where ever the swell is hitting the coastline. Most of these places (apart from the area around Reykjavik and a small part of the North) are still being explored and the possibility of a new discovery is literally around every corner.
