Island Hopping in Iceland - Summer Holiday

6 days of kayaking, hiking and sightseeing on Breiðarfjörður bay.

Trip difficulty 3+ out of 5 possible

Includes:

Visits to Stykkishólmur village, Arnarstapi village, Snæfellsnes peninsula, Snæfellsjökull Glacier and much more.

Our adventure begins bright and early with cruise from Reykjavik to the small fishing village of Stykkishólmur where we will spend a leisurely afternoon, planning and getting ready for the next three days of paddling. We set out next morning and follow the good weather out in to the startlingly beautifull Breiðafjörður bay. This enormous bay separates the Snæfellsness peninsula from the Vestfjords and is peppered with islands of every shape and size, certainly Iceland’s premium sea-kayaking playground. We will paddle along and through the archipelago and make landfall when opportunity presents itself. Our over night camping sites will be decided each morning and we will spend our nights relaxing by the sea with a panoramic view of the bay with its islands, the Snæfellsjökull glacier to the vest and the rugged Vestfjords peninsula to the north.

fter three days adventurous paddling we will go ashore back in Stykkishólmur on the evening of our fourth day. From the village we will cruise along the Snæfellsnes peninsula towards the glacier and camp somewhere on the way. The following day we will explore the magnificent alcoves, sea cliffs and beaches of this awe-inspiring and seldom visited area, culminating in thean afternoon drive all the way up to the roots of the Snæfellsjökull glacier and an evening walk from Arnarstapi, our final camp site, to Hellnar alcove for some delightful fish soup in the Fjöruhúsið Resaurant. The morning after we will drive back to Reykjavik and arrive around lunchtime.

Island hopping in Iceland will show you Iceland in way no other tour can, combining the rich Icelandic sea faring heritage with glaciers, islands, black sand beaches, volcanoes and awesome paddling!
