Be the driver of a monster truck on this super jeep self drive adventure! You will drive the 4x4 super jeep off road and visit the Golden Circle, Iceland´s most famous sightseeing route including Þingvellir National Park, the Geysir Hot Springs and Gullfoss Waterfall.
This tour will take you off the beaten path to experience Iceland´s natural gems in the comfort of our 4x4 super jeep. Our first destination is the beautiful and historic Þingvellir area where the worlds first parliament “Alþingi” was established in 930 AD. It is the only UNESCO‘s cultural world-heritage site in Iceland. Þingvellir is also famous for it´s beautiful nature and unique geology. You can eyewitness the location where the North American and European continental plates are drifting apart. We will walk down through Almannagjá canyon and to the Silfra fissure in the heart of the park. Here you will get to experience the clearest waters in the world on our famous Into The Blue snorkeling trip. The underwater visibility of the lava field stretches into the distance, on good day more then 100 meters! The crystal clear water in the deep Silfra fissure gives you a feeling of being weightless as you glide along the narrow crack with the lazy current. You will be snorkeling with America on one side and Europe on the other, this is with out a doubt one of the most unique and refreshing trips Iceland has to offer.
Next, we take the trail behind the picturesque shield volcano Skjaldbreid, and after about a two hours drive on tough trails and some river crossings we get back to normal roads again. Our next stop, Gullfoss, is Iceland´s best known waterfall, it cascades down 32 meters into the mighty glacial river Hvítá. After seeing Gullfoss up close we continue onwards for a short drive to the Geysir geothermal area. There we will eye witness the spouting hotspring in all its power.

Duration of trip: 10-11 hours.
Included: Pick-up from Reykjavík*, a self drive super jeep ride, snorkeling tour, lunch and a visit to Þingvellir National Park, Geysir and Gullfoss.
Bring with you: Warm outdoor clothing, waterproof jacket and pants, headwear, gloves, warm undergarment clothing (fleece/wool sweater and pants), warm socks and a change of clothing. Good hiking shoes are recommended (note: hiking shoes, waterproof jacket and pants can be rented if you let us know in advance).
Age limit: 14 years or 150cm height.
No knowledge of the sport is required!
Extras: You can rent a good quality waterproof camera from us for an additional 5.000 ISK total price. The guide will divert them over to a disc straight after the trip. We also sell disposable cameras at our shop / office down town Reykjavík for 2.500 ISK.
PLEASE NOTE (for the snorkeling): Although you don´t need to "swim" while snorkeling, we recommend that you can. The reason for that is people that can´t swim tend to panic when they are in the water. You have to be comfortable with floating in water.
PLEASE NOTE (for the U-drive): Driving a modified 4x4 super jeep can be very demanding and dangerous, especially in icy and wet conditions. Therefore the guide has full authority to take over the driving should he evaluate it necessary.
Off-road driving means driving dirt roads and mountain passes. Due to extreme winter conditions these roads are often hard to drive or even impassable. In such cases the guide has full authority to alter the itinerary.
Drivers have to be over 25 years old and hold a valid drivers license. All our super jeeps are with manual transmission therefore you have to be comfortable with driving a stick shift.
* If you are staying at one of the many hotels and guesthouses in the city center then your pick up for your tour will be at 8:30 from the Arctic Adventures main office at Laugavegur 11. The shop is located in the heart of the old city center. Click here to see a map of our location.??
