A weekend trip to Skaftafell in South-East Iceland. Two Day trip in the Vatnajökull National Park. Trip difficulty: 3 of 5 possible. Friday-Saturday - Activities: Glacier Hiking, hiking, Mountain Biking, Boat Trip, Sightseeing.

Iceland’s and in fact Europe’s largest national park with its main attraction the Vatnajökull glacier certainly has a lot to offer when it comes to adventure and amazing views. This popular weekend package combines all of the most awesome activities,hikes and sights that we offer. A great value experience packed visit to the largest glacier outside the Polar Regions. You will hike on the amazing Virkisjökull outlet glacier, sail on the Glacier Lagoon, see puffins at Ingólfshöfði, gaze upon the endless ice fields and Iceland’s highest peak and mountain bike on the black sand beaches.. and believe it or not, there is more!

Rough Itinerary: Friday: Early morning transfer from Reykjavík to Skaftafell, glacier hiking (
Glacier Wonders) on Virkisjökull and a boat trip on the Jökulsárlón, glacier lagoon.
Saturday: Sightseeing/bird watching on the Ingólfshöfði cape, mountain biking in the national park (
Skaftafell on Wheels) and transfer back to Reykjavík.

Add a day to your trip and upgrade it to include the White Giant trip to Iceland’s highest peak on the Vatnajökull glacier for 24.990 ISK per person. This is a very strenuous trip only suitable for those in very good physical condition.

not include flights, dinners or accommodation.
Note: camping gear can be rented if you let us know in advance.
Bring with you: Warm outdoor clothing, waterproof jackets and pants, headwear and gloves. Good hiking shoes are recommended.
Age limit: 10 years (minimum height 140 cm to fit the rental bikes).

Day 1 / Friday
We start with an early morning transfer from Reykjavík to Vatnajökull National Park. You will visit the most breathtaking and inspiring nature that Vatnajökull has to offer. Wander along the Virkisjökull glacier river and then on to the glacier tongue itself, where you will find yourself surrounded by spectacular ice formations and crevasses. Then take a boat ride on the world famous Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon where you will sail among enormous icebergs with Europe’s largest glacier in the background.
Day 2 / Saturday We have early start with a mountain biking tour to the remote Morsárdalur glacier valley from Skaftafell in Vatnajökull National Park. We will bike through one of Iceland´s precious few natural birch wood forests, the Bæjarstaðaskógur. We will bring a packed lunch to enjoy in a beautiful canyon during the trip. Returning to Skaftafell we will hop on the famous hey cart trip to Ingólfshöfði and explore the amazing bird cliffs, packed with puffins, skuas and sternas. We have a 17:00 transfer back to Reykjavík from Skaftafell.
Schedule: Friday: Pick up from your accommodation at 7:00
Saturday: Departure from the Glacier Guides hut in Skaftafell at 9:00
