From Aspire

We are home now and still in awe over our South Shore Jeep Tour by Gummie Glacier! We travel alot and this was one of the top five things we did next to the Eiffel Tower and Rome. The tour guide made the difference. He knew all about Iceland, answered questions, provided lots of good information, gave us plenty of time at our tour spots and provided an unforgettable tour of the South Shore of Iceland. I would recommend anyone to book the Super Jeep South Shore tour - fabulous with black sand beaches, caves and walking behind the waterfall. Skip Reykjavik Excursions - they don't stop long enough. One tour we booked with them they stopped again at the waterfall you walk behind - we were there with our Arctic tour guide - they only allowed 10 minutes! No one walked behind it the entire point of going there. Thanks to Gummie for the best memories!

Northern Lights Hunt - Winter Super Jeep Day Tour in Iceland

Evening super jeep tour including lava caving, lobster dinner and northern lights chase to a convenient location.

Trip difficulty 2 out of 5 possible. Rated: Easy.

Your pick up will arrive at your hotel in the shape of an enormous Super-jeep with an expert guide at the wheel. The search for the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) is on! We start by exploring the hidden world in and under the lava field located in the Blue Mountains only 25 minutes drive from Reykjavik. Walking down into the lava cave and discovering the marvels that volcanic activity has created in the past is a trip that everyone can undertake and enjoy. On your underworld adventure you will see the magical rock formations left behind in the last volcanic eruption and in winter the cave is likely to be filled with glistening icicles of all shapes and sizes, a sight not soon forgotten.

After our underground adventure we head on to Rauda Husid restaurant in Eyrarbakki village on the south coast where a two course dinner (350 gr. lobster and dessert) is waiting for us. Rauda husid is one of Iceland’s most renowned seafood restaurants especially famous for its lobster dinner, located 60 km from Reykjavik surrounded by the pitch-black Icelandic winter night. From there our hunt continues.

The Auroras can only be seen far away from the city lights and from Eyrarbakki we will not have to travel far until the mountains provide the shadows we need. On cloudless and clear winter evenings, with luck on our side, we may be able to spot this beautiful and elusive natural phenomenon. Vivid and bright, the dancing northern lights in the Arctic skies are a sight to remember.

Please note: Seeing the Northern Lights is highly dependent on weather conditions and we reserve the right to cancel if the circumstances are not in your favor.
