From Fufaita

I booked the Black & Blue (Snorkeling & Caving) tour through TourIs, but the actual tour was performed by Arctic Adventures.

We all expected the caving first and then the snorkeling, but it was the other way round. That was even better since when we got into the cave it was raining.

For the snorkeling we got dry suits which worked very well. No need to wear swimming suits underneath. Actually I left my socks on and I was glad I did it because I always get cold on my feet and here I could really feel it. I was also cold around my lips, but that is because that's the only part of your body in contact with the water. Visibility was perfect.

For the caving we got a helmet and a head lamp. You might want to take gloves because you'll need to use your hands to get a grip. If you're afraid of darkness, then you will not enjoy the time spent sitting inside with lamps off!!

The lunch was included and consisted of a sandwich, a big chocolate cookie and juice.

I really enjoyed this tour and would recommend it.

Winter South Coast Super Jeep Day Tour with a Glacier Hike

Combo Trip: Driver Guided Super Jeep Safari, Sightseeing the South Shore´s Most Treasured Natural Sights - Sólheimasandur Lava Beach, Seljalandsfoss & Skógafoss Waterfalls & Glacier Hiking on Sólheimajökull Glacier.

Trip difficulty 2 out of 5 possible. Rated: Easy

Starting with a pick up from Reykjavík in on of our specially modified super trucks we will drive up to the Hellisheiði Mountain where we will follow the 1000 rivers mountain road. We will cross the river in beautiful surroundings many times before descending down to the grassy low lands on Iceland’s south coast. Our next stop is the Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, which we can walk behind the veil of water and then we will visit the Sólheimajökull Glacier.

We will put on crampons (spikes for the soles of our shoes) and other specialized glacier gear and explore the glacier on foot with an expert glacier guide to keep you safe. The Sólheimajökull is a magnificent place; the ancient ice floe is crevassed riddled, with huge ice ridges and spiraling sinkholes everywhere. In the ice, ashes from past volcanic eruptions are hidden and just a few kilometers to the west, resting on top of the mountains, the infamous Eyjafjallajökull volcano can be glimpsed on clear days.

We will eat a packed lunch out in nature and then follow the glacier river from Sólheimajökull down to the black sand beaches. There we will power our way through the sand with the relentless surf of the North Atlantic Ocean on our left side and the Mýrdalsjökull & Eyjafjallajökull glaciers on our right side. We will enter the road again at the famous Skógar waterfall and walk up to the 60 meter high monster to view it up close. After all these adventures we will cruise back to Reykjavík and arrive around 18:00 in the evening.

*Where, when and how much we will be able to go off-road depends entirely on weather and conditions, in other words it depends on the Iceland nature!
