Testimonials

From Alison & Lauren

Hi Artic Adventures,

We just wanted to thank you for making our trip to Iceland so amazing. We went on 3 of your day tours (Blue Ice, Black and Blue, and the Grand Slam with rafting).

We really got to see every unique aspect we could have asked for. Being able to stand on one of the world's glaciers was picturesque. I think I took over 100 pictures of all the unique features. The snorkling in the fissures was truely a unique experience, especially putting on all that gear! Thanks to Alli for being so patient. The grand slam tour was perfect. We were able to see all the major sites and still have time for rafting!! John and Liisa were spectacular tour guides that day.

The guide's were knowledgeable (especially Alli) and enthusiastic. We will definitely recommend your company to any of our friends headed your way.

Thanks,
Alison Neubauer

The Fast Lava Tour - Horse Riding & Quad Biking Winter Day Tour

Combination Day Tour in Iceland.  Quad biking adventure tour through the lava fields of Hellisheiði Mountain and Horse riding on the Icelandic horse through the lava fields of Hafnafjörður.

Trip difficulty: 2 out of 5 possible. Rated: Easy

We start the day at Íshestar farm where we saddle up and go for an adventurous horse riding tour. We will explore the lava surrounding Mt. Helgafell volcano and ride through lava fields and across beautiful hillsides to the old Kaldársel sheep corral or to Lake Hvaleyrarvatn. As we ride through this magical scenery you will see different formations in the rough lava and you might even be able to spot a troll or two. All riding is on excellent riding paths with the beautiful Bláfjöll Mountains towering above on the horizon. After the horse riding we will have lunch at the horse center to get some energy for the ATV action that awaits us.

We will find our 700 cc Yamaha Grizzly Quad bikes waiting outside our base on the Hellisheiði lava plateau. There we give you a short security talk and show you how the bikes function. From there we head out on a two hours ATV bike trip along the mountains and through the amazing lava fields of the Blue Mountains Range. Driving these powerful machines through the lava fields is a great way to explore the hills and mountains on the outskirts of the city.

This tour combines the stoic horse riding with our powerful quad bikes, a sort of Beauty and the Beast combo!

Guaranteed departures for minimum two persons every day all year round.
Pick up from your accommodation in Reykjavik at 8:45-9:30. After the horse riding tour you change mini vans at the Arctic Adventures office, leaving the horse transfer bus for the ATVs transfer bus (tour name: Mountain Cruiser).
