Testimonials

From Alison & Lauren

Hi Artic Adventures,

We just wanted to thank you for making our trip to Iceland so amazing. We went on 3 of your day tours (Blue Ice, Black and Blue, and the Grand Slam with rafting).

We really got to see every unique aspect we could have asked for. Being able to stand on one of the world's glaciers was picturesque. I think I took over 100 pictures of all the unique features. The snorkling in the fissures was truely a unique experience, especially putting on all that gear! Thanks to Alli for being so patient. The grand slam tour was perfect. We were able to see all the major sites and still have time for rafting!! John and Liisa were spectacular tour guides that day.

The guide's were knowledgeable (especially Alli) and enthusiastic. We will definitely recommend your company to any of our friends headed your way.

Thanks,
Alison Neubauer

Þórsmörk Volcano Hike - Super Jeep Safari & Volcano Hike

Driver Guided Super Jeep Tour to Þórsmörk Valley & Hiking Tour in the Foothills of Eyjafjallajökull & Fimmvörðuháls Volcanoes.

Trip difficulty 4 out of 5 possible. Rated: Challenging

Þórsmörk valley with its rugged nature, cornered in by glaciers and their mighty glacial rivers, criss crossed by towering canyons and the steep foothills of the Eyjafjallajökull glacier is sight not soon forgotten. To reach this secluded highland valley we will need a modified 4x4 vehicle, a genuine Icelandic Super Jeep and an experienced guide. On the way to Þórsmörk we will visit the picturesque waterfall Seljalandsfoss and pass the Gígjökull glacier lagoon where we will see first hand the results of the destructive power of the Eyjafjallajökull glacier. There in 2010 a massive flood of melt water and small ice burghs from the volcanic crater ripped the glacier to shreds and flooded the area completely. Continuing onwards our destination is the Básar cabin where we will start our 6-8 hour hike up and down the Fimmvörðuháls volcanoes. The ascend is between 700-800 meters.  The beautiful hike is approximately 20 km in total. This is the site of the first of two volcanic eruptions in 2010. During the hike you will not only be able to touch the new lava, see the brand new craters, mountains and the now cooling lava falls but also enjoy vast sweeping views of one of the most beautiful highland nature in all of Iceland.

Many tours claim to be once in a lifetime, but if wild places, stunning (and challenging) hikes and volcanoes stir your imagination, then this is certain to be a trip to be remembered.
