About Diving in Iceland

Diving in Iceland is a challenging but exhilarating activity, mostly because of the cold conditions all year round but it is definitely worth it and will be a memorable experience. A dry suit is necessary, whether you're planning to plunge into the crystal clear glacier water in Silfra fissure in Þingvellir national park or the North Atlantic Ocean around the island. The Silfra rift is without a doubt one of the best dive sites in the world, a dreamy place that no passionate diver should miss. The crystal clear, freezing cold water with it´s amazing blue colors and lack of life is hard to describe with words, you just have to take a look. If you want to venture out into the ocean, there is the opportunity to visit a few sites around the island, including the geothermal steam chimney in Strýtur. If you are PADI trained and curious about what diving in Iceland is like, come and join one of our tours.

About our Diving Tours

If you are looking for a dive from Reykjavik then we recommend our Deep Into the Blue tour as a first option. From Akureyri, the capital of North Iceland, we can offer you a unique diving experience on the Chimney Dive. Here you can dive amongst geothermal chimneys. These giant underwater geothermal silica cones that rise from the 70 meters deep from the sea floor are called ‘diving wonders’ since they are the only known ones known in the world. If you are one of those people who want it all, then you can on our Iceland Diving Express tour where you can spend one weekend diving both sites!

For those who are hungry for more, Deep Into the North Atlantic is also a great addition, an ocean dive with the chance to spot creatures such as Monkfish and Wolf fish.

If you would like to experience Silfra but are not PADI qualified, or if you would like to dive but would like your family or friends to see Silfra too, then look at our into the blue snorkelling tour at the same site.

“Exciting, Interesting, Different,”

We really enjoyed this activity. Had thought we would be walking up right through a cave/tunnel. When we arrived at our destination. I was confused to see miles of flat black lava with no sign of caves. Imagine my face when our lovely guide Thor.... More IntrepidExplorerMo

“Blue Ice Tour”

We booked this trip with Arctic Adventures and it was the best of the 3 trips we did with them. This was in part due to the guides who took us, Thor and Snorri, who made the day fun, relaxed and really interesting. Thanks to both of them.... More Alison O
